Laser Hair Removal

What Is Laser Hair Removal?

Laser hair removal is the process of removing unwanted hair by means of exposure to pulses of laser light that destroy the hair follicle.

Which areas can be treated?

Unwanted hair can be removed from most parts of the body including legs, upper lip & chin, bikini line, underarm, and back.

How many treatments will I need?

Permanent hair reduction is only possible if the hair is in the anagen growth phase. Only approximately 30% of hairs are in this growth phase at any one time which is why for permanent hair reduction, most areas of the body will need between 6-10 treatments. This can vary from client to client.

Does Is Hurt?

A slight warm tingling sensation best describes the feeling experienced during a treatment. But is infinitely more comfortable than most conventional methods like waxing, and electrolysis.

Skin Rejuvenation Facial

What is a Skin Rejuvenation Facial?

Non-ablative Laser Skin Rejuvenation is a treatment that uses light energy to stimulate natural collagen growth and remove irregular pigmentation such as facial redness or rosacea, enlarged blood vessels, facial veins, acne scarring, or wrinkles.

How many treatments will I need?

Clients often require a course of treatments to rejuvenate the skin tone and improve the condition of the skin.

Who Would Benefit From This?

It is an ideal treatment for sun-damaged and tired skin. As well as being able to reduce the appearance of sun spots and damage, it is also effective at softening and reducing the appearance of acne, rosacea, birthmarks, thread veins and age pigmentation spots.

What is Pigmentation?

Pigmentation means colouring. Skin pigmentation disorders affect the colour of your skin. Your skin gets its colour from a pigment called melanin. Special cells in the skin make melanin. When these cells become damaged or unhealthy, it affects melanin production. Some pigmentation disorders affect just patches of skin. Others affect your entire body.

How does Laser Benefit Pigmentation?

Lasers remove dead skin cells and promote collagen reformation by destroying harmful bacteria and increasing circulation to the skin. In conjunction with melanin, collagen works to keep skin coloration at a constant and even level. When collagen production decreases and melanin increases, due to sun exposure or toxins, brown or black spots on the skin can occur. Lasers will get rid of the discoloration by removing the affected skin, and leaving well-balanced skin visible in its place. Laser intensity depends on the extent of skin damage and discolouration. Some treatments require stronger lasers and recovery time, because these may consist of the removal of deeper skin layers and tissue.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

Typically three to four treatments maybe required but many see results with as little as one treatment. Treatment times vary between 10 – 30 minutes depending on the size of the area to be treated and type of pigmentation we are treating.

Red Veins

What Are Red Veins?

Spider veins (also called telangiectasias) are clusters of tiny blood vessels that develop close to the surface of the skin. They are often red, blue, or purple; and they have the appearance of a spiderweb. They are commonly found on the face and legs.

How It Works?

Laser therapy uses a focused beam of light that heats and damages the affected blood vessel, which eventually fades. Potential side effects include minor redness or swelling around the treated area, skin discoloration, blisters, and rarely scarring. Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy is a recently developed treatment for spider veins. IPL delivers pulses of different bands of light to targeted areas.

How many treatments will I need?

Depending on the size and number of veins, two to six treatments will be needed. The treatments are usually done 4-6 weeks apart. Those with a tendency towards vascular problems will most likely require additional treatments.

Acne Scarring & Rosacea

What Is Acne Scarring/Acne Rosacea

Acne scars are usually the result of inflamed blemishes caused by skin pores engorged with excess oil, dead skin cells and bacteria. The pore swells, causing a break in the follicle wall. Rosacea is a skin condition that affects parts of your face. Symptoms can include facial flushing, facial redness, spots, thickening of your skin, and eye problems such as dry eyes and sore eyelids. Not all symptoms occur in all cases.

How it Works?

The primary effects of laser light in skin resurfacing are photothermal, heating a particular substance in the skin. The process of using laser to remove blemishes in the skin is known as photothermolysis, the breakdown of selected tissues in the skin. The process generally uses light to target bacteria, that combined with an excess of sebum, cause acne breakouts. It destroys the most common acne causing bacteria, preventing future breakouts, and helping to eliminate current ones.

How many treatments will i need?

We recommend 6 treatments and touch-ups every few months to effectively pull deep pigmentation, unwanted superficial scarring, and to rebalance acne prone skin. The touch-ups will keep your complexion glowing, collagen stimulated, and acne at bay.

Age Spots

What Are Age Spots?

Age spots are flat brown, grey, or black spots on the skin. They usually occur on sun-exposed areas of the skin. Age spots are also called liver spots, senile lentigo, solar lentigines, or sun spots.

How Does Laser Remove Age Spots?

The laser uses a powerful beam of green that shines through the outer layer of the skin. The brown pigment absorbs the light energy and gets very hot for a fraction of a second. This is enough to break up the pigment. It is usual to allow at least two months between treatments for the damaged pigment to be absorbed and the skin to recover.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

After your laser treatment your age spots will fade gradually over several weeks. 2 or 3 treatments may be required for maximum fading. Age spots sometimes come back after a few years and need further laser treatment. Your skin will need to be looked after carefully for one or two weeks after each appointment.
